AKF is a national charitable nonprofit organization that directly supports patients and caregivers wherever they are in the fight against kidney disease. About the Search for AKF’s Next Senior Director of Brand Marketing
After a deep discovery process to identify the organization’s most critical business issues and strategic priorities, Staffing Advisors sought an experienced executive to develop and implement AKF’s annual marketing strategy to deepen engagement with fundraising, patient education, and advocacy programs, advance relationships with corporate sponsors, and demonstrate AKF’s unique value to the nephrology community.
The search was led by Staffing Advisors Vice President of Executive Search Aileen Hedden, with strategy consulting from Founder & President Bob Corlett and support from the entire Staffing Advisors team.
Working closely with AKF’s leadership, Staffing Advisors surfaced several key competency areas for the role. A summary of each is listed below:
- Marketing Strategy. Lead marketing strategy to build brand awareness, strengthen loyalty, and elevate the organization’s reputation among patients, caregivers, professionals, policymakers, and media; develop and execute integrated campaigns and engagement strategies that expand public reach and participation; guide creative vision and multichannel content to deliver measurable audience impact; and ensure brand consistency across digital platforms, communications, events, and program initiatives.
- Cross-Collaboration Activities. Partner across departments to advance fundraising, education, advocacy, and program initiatives through coordinated marketing and engagement strategies; contribute to corporate fundraising and partnership development by shaping campaign strategies and supporting proposals; and collaborate with communications, advocacy, and program teams to deliver consistent messaging and expand audience engagement.
- Management and Operations. Lead and develop a high-performing marketing team responsible for brand strategy, campaigns, and large-scale digital engagement; oversee marketing operations, including budget management and vendor coordination; and monitor performance metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and guide data-informed improvements.
The Staffing Advisors team was honored to support AKF in this important leadership transition. Since 2008, we have partnered with AKF on several key roles, including a Chief Medical Officer, a Senior Director of Clinical Education, and a Senior Director of Human Resources.
