Staffing Advisors is proud to have partnered with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) in the selection of its Chief Financial Officer, Jeff Chrisfield. CAFB is a $133MM nonprofit organization (with a balance sheet exceeding $95MM) that provides the equivalent of 60+ million nutritious meals annually to people in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia through a network of hundreds of nonprofit partner organizations. The organization operates with approximately 200 staff. Learn more about CAFB’s leadership here.

About the Search for CAFB’s Next CFO

After a deep discovery process to identify the organization’s most critical business issues and strategic priorities, Staffing Advisors sought a highly experienced executive to develop a forward-thinking financial strategy that identifies and capitalizes on opportunities for market expansion and transforms how the organization uses information to respond to evolving market and community needs. The new leader would be stepping into an organization with sophisticated yet disconnected data systems, an innovative approach to revenue diversification beyond traditional philanthropy, and a growing portfolio of initiatives to address the interrelated issues of food security, poverty, and equity.

The search was led by Staffing Advisors Vice President of Executive Search Aileen Hedden, with strategy consulting from Founder & President Bob Corlett and Vice President of Client Engagement Julien Bois, and support from the entire Staffing Advisors team.

Working closely with CAFB’s leadership, Staffing Advisors surfaced several key impact areas for the role:

  • Support the launch of new business models that enhance CAFB’s ability to provide food for communities today and address the root causes of hunger.
  • Through market and community needs analysis, help CAFB better understand the profiles of those CAFB serves so the organization can meet communities where they are and maximize impact.
  • Using data to show how every dollar makes a difference, build trust with donors and key stakeholders, ensuring CAFB remains the region’s trusted ally in food security while helping communities break the cycle of poverty for generations to come.

Our team was honored to support CAFB in this important leadership transition. We have also partnered with CAFB in the selection of a Chief Human Resources Officer.
