“When our long-time Executive Director and CEO announced his departure, I knew immediately I was about to undertake the most difficult task of my 25 year volunteer service in finding his successor. It was critically important to me that we approached the process in a deliberate and thoughtful manner, even with a very aggressive timeline. I also knew that to ensure we found the best possible candidate to lead our incredible staff and to work well with our volunteer leaders , we would need to engage an executive search firm to open a highly competitive national search. Our Executive Committee interviewed a number of search firms and settled on two possibilities. As the President leading the effort, the decision was left to me.
