About the Search for BBB, Inc.’s Next CEO
After a deep discovery process to identify the organization’s most critical business issues and strategic priorities, Staffing Advisors sought an executive who could modernize a legacy institution for a rapidly changing marketplace and align leaders across a large network under a unified vision. The new leader would meet the challenge of elevating the BBB brand to meet the expectations of new generations and increase its relevance to businesses and consumers across all industries and demographics.
The search was led by Staffing Advisors President Bob Corlett, with the support of Vice President of Operations and Strategy Brooke Lockhart and the entire Staffing Advisors team.
Working closely with the search committee, board, and key stakeholders, Staffing Advisors surfaced several key focus areas in which the new leader would drive impact. A summary of each is listed below:
- AI Strategy and Technology. Lead BBB, Inc.’s investigation and adoption of AI and emerging technologies to support internal efficiency, improve user experience on BBB.org, and elevate service delivery.
- BBB Network Alignment. Strengthen cohesion across a complex federated model, ensuring that the North American BBB, Inc. strategy aligns with local BBB operations while balancing local autonomy with system-wide consistency. Promote a shared service model for BBBs to collaborate and promote business growth.
- Board Governance. Engage with the boards of BBB, Inc., Interactive Blue, and the BBB Institute for Marketplace Trust to ensure alignment on strategic direction, financial stewardship, and organizational priorities. Support effective board decision-making by anticipating emerging issues and providing clear analysis, context, and recommendations.
- Financial Stewardship and Business Model Expansion. Lead the development of scalable revenue streams that reduce reliance on BBB Accredited Business dues, including opportunities to monetize extensive business data through partnerships and products.
- Rating System Modernization. Evaluate and evolve BBB’s core rating system to drive the future of the organization, ensuring it remains credible, relevant, easily understood, and valuable for both businesses and consumers.
- Strategic Partnerships. Explore financially beneficial partnerships with mission-aligned organizations to strengthen BBB, Inc.’s reach, support local BBBs, and broaden engagement with the business community.
- Team Leadership. Foster a collaborative culture that supports innovation, accountability, and professional growth. Ensure BBB, Inc. staff are aligned with strategic goals and have the structure and resources needed to thrive in a remote environment.
- Thought Leadership and Brand Awareness. Partner with media, policy leaders, and others to position BBB, Inc. as a credible authority on trust and elevate the organization’s voice in public discourse. Use proprietary data, consumer insights, and real-world case studies to drive narratives around fraud prevention, digital ethics, and transparent business practices.
The Staffing Advisors team was honored to support BBB, Inc. through this important leadership transition. Following the successful completion of the search process, the BBB, Inc. Board of Directors requested that Staffing Advisors Founder & President Bob Corlett continue to serve as an advisor on board and governance matters. Through at least 2026, Bob is working alongside the Board and leadership team as a strategic advisor on governance, executive leadership, and key enterprise initiatives supporting the continued evolution of the BBB system.
