Senior Marketing Communications Manager, Higher Education

With rising polarization across our country and college communities, American democracy is in crisis, and students are feeling the effects. Unify America connects students one-on-one through our Unify Challenge College Bowl to have productive conversations about hot-button issues like mental health, gun laws, immigration, and free speech on campus. As Senior Marketing Communications Manager, reporting to and working closely with the Chief Community Officer, you will develop strategic messaging and content to drive product adoption across a diverse cohort of higher education institutions. Since 2021, over 200 colleges and universities have joined the program—we are on track to reach 20,000 students by 2026.

 

In this role, you will engage with staff at all levels of the organization, including our President and Director of Partnerships, to craft targeted messaging that communicates the value of the College Bowl to higher education leaders. Working closely with our graphic designer, you’ll create collateral (ex., web copy, blogs, case studies, white papers, etc.) that supports specific sales goals. Your ability to develop content that effectively engages different audience segments while maintaining the integrity of our brand will be central to your success. Although your primary focus is higher education, your work will strengthen our broader fundraising and thought leadership initiatives.

Your work will directly contribute to expanding our reach and bringing this transformative civic engagement program to thousands more students across the nation.

In addition to copywriting and content creation key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and refine key messages that resonate with leaders at higher education institutions while accurately representing our mission and vision. This also includes reviewing and editing copy produced by team members.
  • Work closely with staff on the Partnerships team to understand their needs and produce content that effectively supports sales. Track and analyze content performance to evaluate its impact and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all marketing-focused communications. Provide support to colleagues to ensure all external communications adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Support the Community, Partnerships, and Development teams with creative brainstorming, research, and media planning.
  • Provide occasional customer support during interactive live events.

 

Work Environment, Salary, and Benefits

  • We work remotely and welcome candidates from anywhere within the United States.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years in relevant marketing, branding, and/or communications roles. Experience in the higher education sector or selling products to higher education institutions is preferred.
  • Exceptional writing skills with the proven ability to craft persuasive messaging that resonates with diverse stakeholders in the higher education sector.
  • Experience analyzing content performance data and pivoting approaches to meet KPIs.
