Director, Microsoft Applications

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) seeks an innovative Director of Microsoft Applications to transform how our teams work and elevate IT from a support function to a strategic partner in driving productivity, collaboration, and organizational success. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer and overseeing our Apps Development Director and external consultants, you’ll bring a people-first approach to solving complex user challenges through scalable Microsoft solutions, enhancing the use of SharePoint, Teams, and other leading-edge tools across PhRMA.

By harnessing technologies like Power Automate, Logic Apps, and Copilot, you’ll build scalable, automated workflows that free teams to focus on their highest-impact work. This role offers the autonomy to identify and implement the best tools for each use case with the flexibility to tailor and refine solutions based on end-user feedback and evolving organizational needs.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

As part solutions architect and part technology change agent, you’ll play a critical role in building a “modern workplace” at PhRMA. With a focus on listening, adapting, and educating users, you’ll introduce secure, consistent practices that simplify users’ interactions with technology, support data accessibility and integrity, and empower teams to use technology in a way that enhances their ability to drive impact. By leveraging successes with early adopters, you’ll inspire other staff to adopt new approaches that support efficiency and collaboration within and across teams.

 

Work Environment, Salary, and Benefits

  • You’ll enjoy a hybrid work environment with 3 days in-office weekly at our Washington, DC, headquarters. As an organization, we work remotely on Mondays and Fridays and together in the office on Tuesdays through Thursdays. We all work remotely in August.
  • The budgeted salary range for this position is $110,500 – $151,900 with bonus potential. More experienced candidates will be considered with the potential to adjust salary commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administration and enhancement of Microsoft SharePoint and Teams, ensuring these platforms meet organizational needs and performance standards.
  • Provide strategic input on the deployment and integration of Microsoft technologies, influencing the broader IT strategy in collaboration with the CIO.
  • Integrate with other tools, e.g., CRM, Zoom, Power Platform suite.
  • Develop and facilitate informal training sessions to promote technology adoption and increase staff proficiency in using Microsoft tools.
  • Nurture strong working relationships within IT and across departments to understand and address user needs, thereby enhancing overall productivity.
  • Champion the use of Microsoft automation tools like Power Automate and Logic Apps to streamline organizational processes.
  • Monitor technology implementation effectiveness through user engagement and satisfaction metrics, driving continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience administering, leveraging, and deploying Microsoft 365 environments, with an emphasis on SharePoint and Teams as drivers of collaborative work.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar leadership role within IT, focusing on innovation, technology adoption, and user training. Experience managing direct reports and facilitating team development.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft automation tools, including Power Automate and Logic Apps.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adept at interacting with both technical and non-technical staff to support technology adoption and manage change.
