Sr. Benefits Administrator,

Howard Hughes Medical Institute,

 Chevy Chase MD

HHMI

One tenet of HHMI's approach to supporting its scientists is to provide them with an outstanding level of support so they are free to focus on their research. Since all our activities are fundamentally people-driven, the smooth functioning of the HR department is critical.  Our 19 dedicated HR staff members oversee the personnel needs of more than 3,000 geographically diverse employees.

The HHMI HR function is undergoing a period of profound transformation.  Guided by our department's three year strategic plan, we are introducing new vendors, new processes and new technology to improve flexibility and service to our employees while increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR department.  We are looking for a confident, creative thinker for this position who will embrace our mission and values and seek to learn our culture while taking a fresh look at existing approaches, and identify and build consensus for required change.

Requires 8 years administrative experience in HR, with at least 3 years benefits administration; familiarity with PeopleSoft or similar large scale HRIS that supports thousands of employees; strong knowledge of STD, LTD, FMLA and WC.  Prefer certification, experience with retired employees, and strong knowledge of flexible benefits programs.
